Il s\u2019agit de l\u2019ancien presbyt\u00e8re du village, dont le parc est bord\u00e9 par une \u00e9glise du XIIIe si\u00e8cle. L\u2019une des pelouses recouvre l\u2019emplacement du vieux cimeti\u00e8re qui fut transf\u00e9r\u00e9 en p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie de la commune au d\u00e9but du Second Empire. Il n\u2019en reste qu\u2019une vasque de pierre blonde dont nous nous plaisions \u00e0 imaginer, enfants, qu\u2019il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un puits mur\u00e9, comp\u00e8re d\u2019un autre puits \u2013 actif \u2013 qui se trouvait, lui, pr\u00e8s des serres, et qui \u00e9tait muni d\u2019une superbe pompe \u00e0 bas en fonte, peinte en vert \u2013 ce vert sombre tr\u00e8s particulier que l\u2019on trouvait alors dans les parcs et jardins de la Ville de Paris.<br \/>L\u2019imagination aidant, et peut-\u00eatre pour conjurer le souvenir des tombes maintenant disparues (mais qui sait ?), nous nous racontions des histoires sur ces puits et le r\u00e9seau souterrain qui devait circuler de l\u2019un \u00e0 l\u2019autre (il y avait encore un puits, plus loin, dans le potager).<br \/>On ne retirait qu\u2019exceptionnellement la protection du puits des serres dans lequel il y avait risque de tomber. Difficile \u00e9galement de savoir avec qui elle frayait dans le labyrinthe du jardin et du parc &#8211; et dans l\u2019\u00e9glise, aussi, car celle-ci se trouvait s\u00fbrement reli\u00e9e aux eaux souterraines.<br \/>Je pris l\u2019habitude d\u2019\u2019installer dans le monde de la Citrouille les personnages des contes, mythes ou l\u00e9gendes auxquels je n\u2019ai cess\u00e9 de m\u2019int\u00e9resser depuis l\u2019enfance. On retrouve donc la Citrouille dans les romans de la <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanmaurice-demontremy.com\/index.php\/les-iles-etrangeres\/\"><em><strong>Suite romanesque des Iles \u00e9trang\u00e8res<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. Un roman, <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanmaurice-demontremy.com\/index.php\/dans-la-citrouille-secrete\/\"><em><strong>Le conte de la Citrouille secr\u00e8te<\/strong><\/em><\/a> qui lui sera m\u00eame consacr\u00e9 &#8211; le quatri\u00e8me de la suite.
