Il se fait d\u2019abord conna\u00eetre par un essai, m\u00ealant au journalisme d\u2019investigation son exp\u00e9rience personnelle de la guerre d\u2019Alg\u00e9rie : <em>Les parachutistes<\/em> (1961). Il s\u2019impose ensuite avec <em>L\u2019Orchestre rouge<\/em> (1967), enqu\u00eate sur un r\u00e9seau d\u2019espionnage antinazi berlinois, suisse et franco-belge li\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Urss. Perrault s\u2019y attache \u00e0 la figure marquante et contest\u00e9e de L\u00e9opold Trepper (1904-1982) qui s\u2019en disait le \u00ab Grand Chef \u00bb.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9f8216b e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"9f8216b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43764ac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"43764ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Les ambigu\u00eft\u00e9s de Trepper, manipulateur peut-\u00eatre manipul\u00e9, communiste convaincu \u00ab purg\u00e9 \u00bb par Staline, font de lui un h\u00e9ros de roman \u2013 le type de personnalit\u00e9 \u00e0 triple fond qui convient \u00e0 Perrault. Univers que l\u2019on retrouve dans un roman d\u2019espionnage qui a tout d\u2019un roman-vrai, bien qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse d\u2019une fiction : <em>Le dossier 51<\/em> (1969), dont la forme est remarquablement \u00e9labor\u00e9e. Organisateur d\u2019un service de renseignement pour le compte de Louis XV et de Louis XVI, Broglie s\u2019implique dans le jeu international de l\u2019\u00e9poque qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de la politique europ\u00e9enne ou du soutien \u00e0 l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance am\u00e9ricaine.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f47ee0 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"7f47ee0\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b9b0d4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8b9b0d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><br><\/p>\n<p>La qualit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9criture de la trilogie, le sens vivant de la documentation et l\u2019engagement de l\u2019auteur dans le r\u00e9cit m\u2019ont convaincu d\u2019accepter la proposition faite par France Culture : consacrer un cycle d\u2019entretiens \u00e0 Gilles Perrault. Si je n\u2019ai pas sympathie pour le trotskisme ou le communisme, j\u2019appr\u00e9cie le personnage. J\u2019admire aussi sa m\u00e9canique des \u00ab t\u00e9n\u00e9breuses affaires \u00bb et des personnalit\u00e9s doubles ou triples.<br>Il m\u2019a toujours paru \u2013 comme \u00e0 bien d\u2019autres avant moi &#8211; que l\u2019enqu\u00eate, la manipulation psychologique et la machinerie de l\u2019intrigue \u00e9taient la base de toute narration romanesque \u2013 en, cela proche du conte et du mythe. On a souvent consid\u00e9r\u00e9 l\u2019<em>\u0152dipe<\/em> de Sophocle comme l\u2019anc\u00eatre du polar, puisque l\u2018enqu\u00eateur se d\u00e9couvre \u00eatre le coupable.<br>Les entretiens furent diffus\u00e9s en janvier 1997.
