Le voyageur se trouve devant l\u2019Estaci\u00f3n del Norte, la gare de Valence. Celle-ci voisine avec les Ar\u00e8nes. Pourquoi venir \u00e0 Valence, se demande le nouveau venu ? Ce bref s\u00e9jour \u2013 du 9 au 11 \u2013 le voyageur en a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 sur un coup de t\u00eate, lorsqu\u2019il \u00e9coutait, salle Pleyel, le Sacre du Printemps<\/em>. Mais pourquoi donc ce voyage, se demande-t-il \u00e0 nouveau?
Il a rendez-vous, devant la gare, avec un Valencien, le peintre Flori\u00e0n Witt. Durant toute cette journ\u00e9e du 9 avril les deux hommes arpentent la ville que Flori\u00e0n Witt conna\u00eet depuis l\u2019enfance. Ils marchent. Ils observent. Ils parlent. Des tableaux de Goya qui se trouvent dans la cath\u00e9drale. D\u2019un po\u00e8te catalan du XIV\u00b0 si\u00e8cle, Ausias March, mystique et sulfureux. De la Guerre civile et des ann\u00e9es 1930. De l\u2019avant-garde et des ann\u00e9es 1970. Mais aussi d\u2019Audrey Hepburn. De Nerval et Baudelaire. De Picasso et de son ami sculpteur, Julio Gonzalez. De Claude Simon et Jean de la Croix. De mille autres choses.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u00ab Valence est une ville pour marcher et te perdre \u00bb lui a dit Flori\u00e0n Witt.
Les deux jours suivants le voyageur refait donc seul le m\u00eame itin\u00e9raire. Il marche. La ville est un labyrinthe d\u2019histoires et de souvenirs qui se superpose au labyrinthe dans lequel veille la m\u00e9moire du voyageur. Des livres, des tableaux, des musiques, des visages, des fantaisies. Et toujours cette question qui le tourmente. Pourquoi a-t-il voulu partir ? Que cherche-t-il dans le labyrinthe : Ariane ou le Minotaure ? Et pourquoi la question reste-t-elle toujours sans r\u00e9ponse ?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Les r\u00e9ponses ne manquent pourtant pas \u00e0 Valence. Encore faut-il savoir regarder. Le voyageur peut compter, pour cela, sur le parcours sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 par Flori\u00e0n Witt. Et sur les impertinences d\u2019une jeune vache nomm\u00e9e Capucine, rencontr\u00e9e dans la cath\u00e9drale, perch\u00e9e sur un chapiteau \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de saint Matthieu (on peut la voir en couverture du livre, ci-dessus). Matthieu l\u00e8ve les yeux au ciel, tourment\u00e9 par la r\u00e9daction de son livre. La charmante vache Capucine, elle, veut d\u00e9crocher la lune. Et sautera m\u00eame par-dessus.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Capucine \u00e0 Valence<\/em> est n\u00e9 d\u2019un s\u00e9jour que je fis en 2007 \u00e0 Valence (Espagne) \u00e0 l\u2019invitation de mon ami, l\u2019\u00e9crivain Rafael Chirbes (1949-2015) dont c\u2019\u00e9tait la ville de c\u0153ur. Au retour, j\u2019en parlais \u00e0 Christian Giudicelli (1942-2022), alors directeur de collection aux \u00e9ditions du Rocher. Il m\u2019invita \u00e0 en faire un r\u00e9cit pour \u00ab La fantaisie du voyageur \u00bb, une s\u00e9rie consacr\u00e9e aux voyages litt\u00e9raires. Le r\u00e9cit parut en 2008, \u00e0 mi-chemin du journal et de la fiction, entre vrai mentir et mentir-vrai, sous le r\u00e8gne de la folle du logis \u2013 en proie \u00e0 toutes ses digressions.<\/p>
